Don't rule out a Winter Wedding...

If you’re already struggling to get a date for a Spring or Summer Wedding this year, don’t rule out the idea of a winter wedding.  As this wedding I shot in November shows, the sun can still shine and as well as meaning you can benefit from some great deals on venues, the lighting can also be amazing for your wedding photos.

My take on all of this is if you plan for bad weather (and a lot of venues have superb interior backdrops and undercover outdoor walkways etc), if the sun does come out on the day, it’s an added bonus!  It’s worth thinking about planning everything a little earlier in the day than you might with a summer wedding so that you don’t lose natural daylight for your photography.

This was a great wedding I shot at Froyle Park for a lovely couple called Ulya and Ahilan.  We had met initially for a portfolio viewing and then did some trial shots around Kings Cross station.  They wanted me to shoot at platform 9 ¾ but I couldn't find it!!!

As a wedding venue, I was blown away by the beauty of Froyle Park.  It’s situated in the quaint village of Upper Froyle in North Hampshire.  Surrounded by rolling hills, when you make your way through the gates and up the tree-lined path, you’re met by the true magnificence of this luxury country estate.

You’re spoilt for choice in terms of fabulous light and bright interiors too; following a complete renovation, it now offers a variety of beautiful rooms in which to hold your day, including The Great Hall, The Grand Ballroom and The Drawing Room.   It’s worth mentioning that it even has a no-corkage policy which enables couples to bring their favourite drinks and avoid some extra hidden costs, love this!

This wedding was an interesting mix of vintage and then a more Asian influence in the evening - the best of both worlds.  Ulya’s vintage-style wedding dress was perfect for a November wedding and looked stunning coupled with the rich colours in the flowers and bridesmaid’s dresses.

As I hope you’ll see from this selection of photos from the day, a winter wedding can be really glamorous, magical and cinematic.

Happy planning and if I can help, please just give me a call or drop me an email at info@rogerbrownphotography.com
